Sunday is the first day in my training calendar and what better way to start it off than getting up at 05:00am this past Easter Sunday. Not to mention kicking in daylight savings time for an hours less sleep. But it is what it is and I was looking forward to this ride for the days leading up to it.
Filly, one of my very good friends organized the session for the three of us (Fil, Tim and myself) to get together and conquer the hillsides north of Terrassa on the roads of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac. Beautiful. The original plan was to do a 40km ride to Mura, however in the end we decided to head further towards Navarcles, have a power breakfast and head back home. In total from start to finish, according to my odometer, we clocked in 65.54 kilometers with 840m elevation in just under 5hrs and 15min – this includes however a rough 45min breakfast stop halfway through at Navarcles and a few short stops in between for photos and heed to natures calling.
What a great session. The way towards Navarcles was a fairly easy ride, the first km’s being a steady climb. Then it was mostly downhill from there for a majority of the way. However the way back from Navarcles was just a climb for nearly 20km out of the 30km we need to do and the most painful part about it was sitting. Towards the final stretch of our uphill portion, roughly the last 500 meters I got a small cramp in my right thigh and could feel a small golf ball form which I messaged out for 2min. Yet it was butt that took most of the beating. I have not been riding enough to be accustomed to my bikes seat again – I even feel it today. Sittings been a tough task the last 24 hours, but this round surely fired me up to really push a few session these next days prior to our vacation.
Thanks Filly for the initiative. Looking forward to crushing limits with you guys again.
